Your Public Servants in Action, Portsmouth Edition

Leslie VanOrden, a 32-year-old magistrate in Portsmouth, has been arrested for heroin possession, reports the Virginian-Pilot. She was charged following a traffic offense that also garnered a reckless driving charge. She is on leave pending the outcome of the case.

Magistrate judges generally oversee first appearances of criminal defendants, set bail, and conduct other administrative judicial duties.

  1. What can anyone add to this?

    As a sometime viewer of WHRO and other OTA channels in the Hampton Roads area, I can only say, Portsmouth is the dominant locale for about half the seedy local TV stories; but far from half of the local population.

    I used to cover police there for the Pilot many years ago. It was a great crime venue. They busted the vice and narc squad for selling intell.
