“Listen, I want to stop for a minute and — listen — Speaker Pelosi’s husband had a break-in last night in their house and he was assaulted. There’s no room for violence anywhere, but we’re going to send her back to be with him in California. That’s what we’re going to go do,” Youngkin said.

Yuk, yuk… a Trumper makes assassination attempt on the Speaker of the House and Youngkin thinks it is hilarious…
-
trying to run with the “big dogs”….
-
The silence from the Right will be as deafening as that in response to the antisemitic statements of Kanye West and Sen. Tuberville.
-
And Walker abortions… the list goes on and on…
-
Don’t ever confuse what the GOP means when they say they are a “big tent” party!
No matter what flavor wackadoodle, if they vote “right” they are welcome cuz the GOP can’t win without all of them.
And they’ve apparently learned this from Trump and his wackadoodle army.
-
Oh, I thought they’ve been saying “big bent” party. Need one of them newly reduced cost hearing aids under Biden legislation.

“a Trumper makes assassination attempt”
Funny, that wasn’t in any of the news articles about what happened.
Maybe it was one of the illegal immigrants on the terror watch list who have snuck across the border angry that he didn’t get an I phone or a flight to Martha’s Vineyard.
Or maybe it was a crazy homeless person off his meds and looking for a donation of Nancy’s ice cream bars.
-
Nope, was a rightwing nut job looking for Nancy.
-
Yo Eric half a troll short of a full load, you’re still short. Making stuff up seems to make you happy.
Are you writing lies for Biden like gas was $5 a gallon when he took office, or that he got his student loan forgiveness through Congress by a vote or two? Maybe you’re really trolling for Trump with stuff like a President can declassify docs just by thinking about it.
-
Didn’t you just love Youngkin’s joke, Lefty? Can’t make this stuff up!!
-
“There’s no room for violence anywhere, but we’re going to send her back to be with him in California. That’s what we’re going to do.”
A statement from a spokeswoman clarified that Youngkin said “the assault on Paul Pelosi was wrong,” and that the governor “wishes him a full recovery and is keeping the Pelosi family in his prayers,” emphasis added
Doesn’t seem so terrible, but then I’m an independent, quoting what he actually said, not making it up like partisan hacks do.
What offended you most, Youngkin’s statement that there was “no room for violence anywhere” or that he was “keeping the Pelosi family in his prayers”?
Bet you’d have liked it better if he excused it as a mostly peaceful home invasion
-
The spox statement might have carried more credibility had it been made by the Governor personally.
-
As opposed to the “silly walks” nonsense you make up and state first person?
Youngkin’s statement that there is “no room for violence anywhere” was both very clear and uttered by him.
-
-
Youngkin simply demonstrated the old adage that anything he says before a “but” is a lie…
-
As opposed to everything you say, Eric the half a troll short of a full load.

So the attacker broke into the house without a weapon and used a hammer Pauli P had – is he an accomplice?
-
So you are saying it was just a simple kidnapping attempt is all… well then… funny… 🤷♂️
-
Nothing in my remark stated that… read the words…. it was a question. Assassins rarely show up without a weapon– unless one is a Ninja
-
All I have read is that they were fighting over a hammer nothing about whose hammer. But, wow, fuuunnnnyyyy!!!
-
Thanx for the expert testimony regarding assassins. All are better off for the wisdom.
-
Yes. Best to continue to defend inane remark and avoid condemning the attack.
-
-
Paul Pelosi’s attacker was a “Trumper”. Please cite an credible source. News reports indicate the attacker was an mentally ill individual. The police have not determined a motive for the attack. What is your source?
-
All will be revealed by Tucker Carlson and/or Alex Jones. The fact that, according to early police reports, the attacker echoed chants of Jan 6 rioters is probably mere coincidence or flattering imitation.
Yes, appealing to the Heart of Darkness of the Republican Party. Are we to continue to bemoan the dearth of ethical and honest conservatives or libertarians that could offer real policy and governance choices? I guess so, since the real threat of violence and actual attacks have replaced the democratic process for some of the GOP.
Some headlines from a Google search….
‘Squad members horrified Mr. Pelosi called the Police and not a Social Worker’
‘147 upgrades the Pelosis could take to improve their home defense from only a hammer’
‘A Rich white ‘defund the police’ liberal is assaulted in home, and no mention of Akeem Briscoe’
‘Homeless Criminal Foreigner breaks into the Pelosi house – declares he’s only an ‘uninvited guest’ — and demands no cash bail!’
-
Looks like Youngkin has lots of company… surprised he didn’t read some… just think of the laughs he could have gotten from his MAGA audience!!
-
According to the Post article, “The crowd cheered.”
-
-
CYA for your first silly comment. Pathetic attempt at humor.
-
Meet Youngkin’s writer… and audience… all in one…
-
This is not funny at all.
-
Which? Youngkin’s remark, or Dick reposting it?
Good to know a number of BR regulars have bested Alex Jones in characterizing the assault on Paul Pelosi as staged to raise money. Photoshopped videos to follow showing Mr . Pelosi hitting himself with the hammer. Have they no shame???
Youngkin’s remarks were inappropriate. The daughter of Nancy and Paul Pelosi also made inappropriate, and hateful, comments actually applauding the vicious physical attack on Senator Rand Paul by a neighbor. https://news.yahoo.com/rand-paul-calls-nancy-pelosis-161701717.html Unfortunately, such is the nature of discourse in our nation today.
-
The attack on Rand Paul was not connected to his politics as it was made by a neighbor nor was it a result of the current bitter discourse. The daughter’s remarks were inexcusable as was Youngkin’s callous comment. While Rand Paul wished Mr. Pelosi well, the silence by his colleagues speaks louder. Worse are those from commenters on these pages dehumanizing the victim.
-
If you want to stop “inexcusable” commentary, stop participating in it.
The man who broke in to the Pelosi house is demonstrably stark raving mad.
The article you link relayed the information that every Republican in a leadership position in the House and Senate sent immediate condolences and best wishes to Speaker Pelosi.
It also provided the information that the Governor Youngkin wishes Paul Pelosi “a full recovery and is keeping the Pelosi family in his prayers”.
Get it together.
-
See my comment above on your pathetic apology. Get real!!
-
-
One thing interesting, the apparent fact that Pelosi and husband don’t already have significant 24/7 security with the hate and threats flying from social media and related.
Maybe a damned if you do and damned if you don’t.
-
Pelosi has security from federal officers, but her husband does not when he is not with her.
-
Senator Paul is blocking the bi-partisan bill to provide security to judges after the son of one was gunned down in the home. He claims to want to expand it to include members of Congress so here is his chance.
-
Sometimes brevity is not the soul of wit but sharp partisanship, even witlessness. Youngthing bellowed his regard for Kari Lake. Go figure.
Not sure your point, Dick. Perhaps you can explain it.
But please see above for some of the most detestable political commentary on a human tragedy that can be imagined.
The assailant was utterly insane. Thus is a perfect canvas on which to paint nonsense. And worse.
Dick, I am disappointed.
The man who broke in to the Pelosi house is demonstrably stark raving mad. Tryin to paint his madness in political hues reeks of desperation.
The article you linked relayed the information that every Republican in a leadership position in the House and Senate sent immediate condolences and best wishes to Speaker Pelosi.
Governor Youngkin is a profoundly religious man. Indeed you criticize him when he is informed by his religious faith. The same article also provided the information that the Governor Youngkin wishes Paul Pelosi “a full recovery and is keeping the Pelosi family in his prayers”.
This is beneath you.
-
Youngkin’s words, as you are so often quick to remind others, speak for themselves. His prayer to send Ms. Pelosi back to CA reflected his true religion. That’s insanity.
-
So this sort of “joke” is what passes for Christianity these days… deplorable…
-
Youngkin’s words, as you are so often quick to remind others, speak for themselves. His prayer to send Ms. Pelosi back to CA reflected his true religion. That’s insanity.
-
Jim, Youngkin’s wish for a full recovery was relayed by his press secretary and smacked of pro forma remarks. The remarks I passed on, without commentary, were made by him personally to a partisan rally for a Congressional candidate. His remarks there definitely had “political hues”. It is probably still too early to speculate on the mental condition of the attacker but, whatever his mental condition, Youngkin’s comments were entirely in bad taste, even callous.

re: “stark raving mad”
sounds a lot like what we hear from the right these days including on BR pages:
per the link:
“Last year, David DePape posted links on his Facebook page to multiple videos produced by My Pillow CEO Mike Lindell falsely alleging that the 2020 election was stolen. Other posts included transphobic images and linked to websites claiming Covid vaccines were deadly. “The death rates being promoted are what ever ‘THEY’ want to be promoted as the death rate,” one post read.
DePape also posted links to YouTube videos with titles like “Democrat FARCE Commission to Investigate January 6th Capitol Riot COLLAPSES in Congress!!!” and “Global Elites Plan To Take Control Of YOUR Money! (Revealed)”
Two days after former Minneapolis Police Officer Derek Chauvin was found guilty of killing George Floyd, DePape wrote that the trial was “a modern lynching,” falsely indicating that Floyd died of a drug overdose.
He also posted content about the “Great Reset”– the sprawling conspiracy theory that global elites are using coronavirus to usher in a new world order in which they gain more power and oppress the masses. And he complained that politicians making promises to try to win votes “are offering you bribes in exchange for your further enslavement.”
These “ideas” are not exactly the province of the mentally ill unless one wants to include quite a bit of the Republican Party itself these days.
This guy is little different than the GOP election deniers now running for office across the country nor the likes of the Jan 6 folks who went looking for “Nancy” and others including the Vice President and talk openly of “civil war”.
And Conservatives STILL defend this idiocy as just mental issues of some like this guy. And more than willing to win elections based on votes from folks who believe the same conspiracy theories.
-
-
The Dems have belatedly realized their profound foolishness over the last 6 years is about to get their butts kicked. They are desperate, increasingly frantic, hysterical and making things up.
Dunno if the Repubs will profit from their example.
-
Youngkin’s comment was poorly phrased and ill-timed. He was at that moment clearly a politician playing to an audience. The Gov should have just stopped after condemning the violence, but no he had to go and step in it. Speaker Pelosi is in no danger of being voted out of office so Youngkin gave the impression that only violence could get her back to CA. This as she was on a plane headed to her husband’s side. The attacker clearly cited political hues by repeating the Jan 6th chant and his social media shows him to be an “election denier” following the “pillow guy”. Youngkin embarrassed the Commonwealth and is now busy playing cleanup. He should stay home and tend to his job.
Dick, I am disappointed.

Let’s stipulate that the attacker was a lunatic. But it sounds like he was attracted to the lunacy on the right. I for one am shocked: https://www.vice.com/en/article/m7gkey/david-depape-paul-pelosi-attack.

-
And what about Mike Lindell and all the other election deniers that did the painting.
-
What is pathetic and disappointing is your apologetic defense of the Governor’s statement including the after-thought prayer wish from a spox. Your political commentary notably lacked a condemnation off the assailant’s act and absent any prayer of your own for the Pelosi’s. The best you could muster was the alleged mental condition of the attacker. Y’all just don’t hear yourself.
I seem to remember the GOPers going bonkers with the Roe decisions.
“The Board of Visitors wishes you a speedy recovery by a vote of 7 to 5.”
Bo Schembeckler was hospitalized with pneumonia after a stunning defeat to UCLA in a Rose Bowl game. He said he appreciated the humor until he realized they might have been serious.
He displayed the card on a Carson Show visit following his release from the hospital.
What a schmuck. And they say my snarky stuff is hurtful.
looks like MSNBC has taken over the comments section? LOL
-
Not to worry! Plenty of Alex Jones copycats chiming in to minimize the assault and Youngkin’s callousness.
Youngkin’s remarks seem innocuous enough, especially considering the venue. Of course, if you are looking for a reason to criticize, almost anything can be twisted into whatever insult your mind desires. Kinda like the guy in a bar trying to pick a fight. Doesn’t make you smart or right.
I have been searching without success to find where Nancy Pelosi, Pres Biden or any ranking democrat condemned the attack on the Rubio canvasser last week. Can anyone provide a link? If there is no link, why not? Weren’t they outraged?
