I’m leaving Wednesday on a much-needed vacation, in which my wife, traveling companions and I expect to do a lot of hiking with spectacular views such as this one. I’ll be gone about 10 days — without a laptop, unable to blog! (Is there a blogging-withdrawal antidote comparable to Oxycodone? Oh, maybe it’s spending time with friends and the great outdoors.) I will take a tablet, so I hope to keep up with email, but that’s about it. I’m counting on the BR crew to keep the blog lively in my absence. They’ve done it before, and I’m sure they’ll do just fine. Who knows — maybe they’ll do better! Everybody please behave while I’m gone! — JAB

Nice Jim…we did Zion and Bryce before COVID. Not sure where you are flying in, think we did Las Vegas airport, which gives a chance to see Hoover Dam, which is interesting to see the water issue, and how nice it is to have the Fed gov’t pay for a huge project to supply your water and elec at low cost .

I’m really envious. I hope you have a good trip. Good for you for not taking your laptop!

My advice: Don’t even take a tablet. Just tell everybody important to you that you’ll be unavailable and then don’t even turn on your cell phone except in an emergency.
Spending some time “unconnected” every once in a while is very refreshing.
Oh, and have fun!

Don’t tip over any goblins, aka hoodoos.

I had an article for you on this abortion issue that nobody in the media is writing about — and with a Virginia angle. Oh, well. Have a nice trip!

Arizona for us later this year, Lord willing and the creek don’t rise. Not across the pond, not yet. Safe travels.
Cool Hoover Dam fact: The gigantic turbines were built at NN Shipbuilding, a very vital Depression era contract that helped keep it afloat.

Steve, I had never heard that. Impressive.
