Statue One, Radicals Zero

A protester was seriously injured last night during the destruction of a statue of a Confederate soldier in Portsmouth. After decapitating the statue, the vandals threw a rope around its neck and pulled it down. Unfortunately, it landed on a fellow protester.

“There was a gentleman who was directly in front of the statue and when the statue finally did give way it came and fully hit him in the head,” a local Black Lives Matter representative told news reporter Brett Hall. “You could see his skull was actually showing, he was convulsing on the ground. He lost a fair amount of blood, we’re asking everybody to pray for that man right now.”

I hope the guy recovers. As for everyone else, I have one word:

Idiots.

In a act of retribution, Confederate soldier seriously injures possible descendant of former slave.

During the time I lived in Portsmouth I passed that statue almost daily. I’d have re-titled the piece: Statue One, Idiots Zero.

  3. SMH. Prayers for the guy, and his family. Also for those who took off and/or just filmed rather than trying to help him.

  4. systemic racism raises its ugly head again… well not really.

If they were wearing PPE and following OSHA regulations, this wouldn’t have happened.

    Remember, safety is no accident.

Man that is a disgusting headline.
I never support anyone destroying things that don’t belong to them. But I also do not wish harm to people either and don’t like to play the “they deserve it” type games.
And by the way the radicals are well up on the statues. The real story is the police are just watching the destruction of due process and representative government.

It’s kind of like when a vending machine gets mad at you for trying to get a free soda by shaking them and tips over and crushes you.

Except that vending machines usually have warnings on them advising you that this is what will happen and that you could be seriously injured or even killed.

Clearly, this statue also needed a warning on it.

Stupid is as stupid does. The guy who said that in the movie makes a lot of money.

    • In Portsmouth, a brass band played as demonstrators beheaded four bronze figures and pulled down one from a downtown Confederate memorial, which was erected 28 years after the Civil War ended on a site that had been used as a slave whipping post.—The Virginian-PIloT

A whipping post? Wow, I didn’t know that. No symbolic gesture there.

What James? No comment on statues not hurting anyone?
