Smart Geese!

Laura and I were taking a walk along the Rocketts Landing segment of the Capital Trail this morning when we came across this sight — a gaggle of geese crossing the trail at the pedestrian crossing. So well behaved! Now, if only we could teach them where to poop!

So much for the idea of “endangered species” and loss of “habitat”.

These are large birds that need a lot of food and they have no trouble finding it or habitat. Us humans are just along for the ride.

And … they apparently don’t get the Wu Flu!

This is not uncommon. Crows at intersections in Japan using cars and stoplights as nutcrackers and “safe eating times”. Animals using overpasses to cross interstates.

We greatly underestimate our fellow travelers’ ability to study our habits and take advantage of them.

History and mythology is littered with stories, e.g., Daniel and the Lion, but given the proliferation of video, we now have evidence that indeed they sometimes also seek and accept our assistance.

    One example: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=hlwxLtFQcrY
In case you have difficulty seeing, the lady is pulling porcupine quills.

Maybe there are reasons that Minnesota politics are so hard to predict. Smart animals?

Are these substitutes for the pix we might have seen from your trip to France?

The lighting is so dim inside the Crazy Horse it’s hard to take good photos.
