    This is easy….for those that paddle.. Try Merchants Mill Pond and the Okefenokee and a few others! I’d provide a map but the ability to supply jpgs has been removed.

    In the real ecological world – a “swamp” is not some fetid hole where contaminated water drains and accumulates.

    That’s why we call them wetlands.

    They are actually vibrant ecosystems alive with plants and critters – diversity if you will.

    For some – a melting pot of culture and race – is a human swamp!

    the stereotypical “swamp” just does not exist in the wild – it’s a figment of folks imaginations….and those ignorant of what wetlands really are!

        no…. there’s actually wetland mitigation banks to replace wetlands that are destroyed!

        Every acre that VDOT uses for a road that is a wetland -they have to replace 2-1.

    I’m with Larry; swamps have gotten a bad rep in the current politics. I like the pictures; not so much the new slogan.

    Great Dismal Swamp is one if only two natural lakes in Virginia, a limnologists dream comne true.

    The only reason I know that word, I remember one time at work we were having a big meeting, and the word “limnology” came up. And the big manager said, what the heck is limnology? Someone stood up and said, sir, limnology is the study of lakes.

    I was impresed, but if I recall the guy actually had a degree in limnology.

    Didn’t Trump suggest lastMarch of closing the 2,000 mile Mexican border and erecting a moat that he would fill with alligators and venomous snakes and the fence would be topped with flesh -cutting razors? Is the the Bacon concept?
