This exchange took place at Virginia Commonwealth University during the Students for Life at VCU event. Everyone in the VCU community should be hanging their head in shame at the how the VCU student conducts herself.

VCU alumni, are you going to let this slide? Regardless of where you stand on abortion, is this how we as a society are going to “debate” contentious issues? Time for alumni to assert themselves. Time to organize. Time to tell President Michael Rao that this kind of behavior is disgraceful and unacceptable.

    As Nancy’s pointed out there are striking parallels between this meeting disruption and those experienced at (for instance) Loudoun County’s School Board meetings as organized by the likes of Ian Prior. No JAB posts citing a “New Rule” for public debating then… 🤷‍♂️

      If JAB wants a “New Rule” then he should not delete serious comments even if couched in a touch of sarcasm. Or, maybe that is the “New Rule”? When someone points out hypocrisy, silence them.

      No new rule. I fail to see the parallel between protesting the improper actions of a school superintendent and the attempt to shut down a scheduled university group’s speaker by those who disagreed with the content of the speech. https://www.foxnews.com/video/6316987939112

        Jim’s “New Rule” is about being unruly at public meetings. Certainly you aren’t contending that Ian Prior’s cohorts in Loudoun weren’t unruly…

          If Loudoun parents were as disruptive as the people who shut down the VCU event, they should be condemned. I don’t recall any Loudoun school board meetings actually getting shut down. I remember protesters getting evicted from school board meetings, but that’s not quite the same, is it?

    This is not a new rule. It has been the practice on TV panel shows for years–he or she who shouts the loudest wins.

    But, I agree that VCU alumni should be embarrassed that this person represents their school.
