LCPS Superintendent Ziegler and the Superintendent of Public Instruction

by James C. Sherlock

Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) can generously be described as “troubled” during the tenure of superintendent Scott Ziegler. You know, the guy who got left holding the bag when his predecessor fled the state.

To make a very long story short, his fate is in front of the new Superintendent of Public Instruction, Jillian Balow.

An organization named “Fight for Schools” has sent a 149-page letter to Ms. Balow asking her to remove Mr. Ziegler for cause. The details of the cause apparently took 149 pages.

Probably something in that letter about two rapes at two different schools by a kid he transferred so he would not be stressed about staying in the first one.

The letter cites the Code of Virginia.

§ 22.1-65. Punishment of division superintendents.
A division superintendent may be assessed a reasonable fine, suspended from office for a limited period or removed from office by either the Board of Education, upon recommendation of the Superintendent of Public Instruction or the school board of the division for sufficient cause. A division superintendent may appeal to the appropriate circuit court any decision of the Board of Education or school board to assess a fine against him or to suspend or remove him from office and shall be entitled to a trial de novo on such appeal of whether there was sufficient cause therefor. (emphasis added.)

The McAuliffe/Northam-appointed Board of Education, upon Ms. Balow’s, recommendation, will need to stand up and be counted.

This will be fun to watch.

This is a no brainer to me. How is it this rapist didn’t end up on the sex offender list anyway?

My understanding is that he is on that list.

      1. AFTER the 2nd rape facilitated by the LCPS system. BUT show up to school without a mask and your school will file a warrant for your arrest! Now that is student ‘restorative justice’!

Nothing else. “Nothing to see here”. “Mostly peaceful” rapes.

It will not be fun to watch. His board should back him. He doesn’t make the decisions, they do. He reports to them.

He lied to the school board and to the parents about the first rape. From the Daily wire:

“Soon after (the first rape), the school board sought to pass a policy that would permit transgender students to use the bathroom of the gender they identify with. To address concern by parents that this could cause a safety issue, Superintendent Scott Zeigler said definitively that there had been no bathroom sexual assaults in the Loudoun schools.”

“The second victim had her mother read a statement, in which she asked “why me?” She said that she knew the assailant was wearing an ankle monitor when he arrived at her school as a transfer student, but gave him a chance anyway. She did not know that he was wearing it because he had been arrested for forcible sodomy in his previous school, and felt that he took advantage of her kindness.”

Anytime. This letter is loaded with plenty of supporting documents. Even the transcript from the trial.

The AG is conducting an investigation of the handling of the rapes by the school board, the superintendent, the sheriff’s office and the prosecutor’s office. Then there was the falsified report to VDOE that said there had been no rapes in Loudoun schools. Those data are reported to the Civil Rights Division of the Department of Education.

Daily Wire reports interesting things to investigate:

“The judge said a report she reviewed as part of sentencing also noted the existence of a third victim.” When did that occur and who knew about it?

“On Wednesday Judge Pamela Brooks said the assaults did occur, saying, “Over the years this court has read many psychosexual reports, and when I read yours, frankly, it scared me. It scared me for you, it scared me for society.” We are left to wonder when that psychosexual report was produced.

“Moreover, at no point in time did Ziegler ever attempt to correct the record”

Well, it did not take me long to find Ian’s first “misstatement”…

Don’t believe Mr. Prior is the Superintendent of Public Instruction, a member of the Board of Education or the AG. It will get sorted out by them, and we’ll see what happens.

Yes, I suppose they will. Prior, however, can read the political tea leaves. He wants to claim (for his own political goals) that he is the reason Ziegler gets the boot (if he does). He is showboating and as I said fundraising (I am sure) off this stunt. I wonder how much back room coordination there has been between the administration/campaign operatives and Prior….??

Item #3 demonstrates Prior’s ability to intentionally mislead. Ziegler’s statement is clear as day and 100% honest. Prior claim’s it is false and dishonest. Prior is shown to be the dishonest one with this entire item #3 construct.

Youngkin should pull the former LCPS superindendent, Eric Williams, license and have it suspended. The mess in Loudoun started with Williams and continues under Ziegler. Williams should never be permitted to lead a school division in Virginia again. I know he is in Texas now and yanking his licensure would keep it that way.

At the very least Mr. Ziegler should receive a vote of no confidence and be removed from his position, post-haste. The legal repercussions will obviously be determined by the AG if there is any grounds.
