Joe Morrissey Banned from Henrico Jails

Joe Morrissey

by Jeanine Martin

Last weekend Senator Joe Morrissey (D-Richmond) was banned from two Henrico County jails when he brought his three young children to Regional Jail West and refused to supervise them. His ban lasts for 90 days.

Morrissey came to the jail to introduce one of his incarcerated constituents to an attorney who would represent him. He left his 3 young children in the lobby of the jail with crayons and paper on which to color. Sheriffs at the jail informed the senator that rules require all children in the jail be supervised by an adult.

Twice the sheriffs had to ask Mr. Morrissey to settle down his children. After the second time, he was informed that all children in the jail must be supervised by an adult at all times. Morrissey again refused.

From the Richmond Times-Dispatch:

Despite our staff’s efforts, Mr. Morrissey refused repeated requests to comply and eventually became verbally abusive, made threatening remarks and acted in an aggressive manner to a lieutenant, (Henrico Sheriff) Gregory said. Due to his actions, Mr. Morrissey’s privileges to visit Henrico’s Jail West and Jail East facilities will be suspended for 90 days.

And here I thought that Joe was a hero of the Right in Virginia…

Never to me. He’s on your team, not ours. The link is to the video which is less than 2 minutes. Hey, frustrated daddy, trying to work with the children in tow. Something women get to do all the time, Joe. Usually without that display of temper and assumed entitlement.

    2. You must be kidding. His rabid anti-gun stance alone disqualifies him from even receiving support from the Right, never mind being a “hero”.

Only partially tongue in cheek. I seem to remember some pretty crucial Youngkin initiatives regarding vaccine mandates or some such culture war issues that were passed because of him… no….?

        1. I can speak only as one right-leaning conservative, but I would not give that guy the time of day.

Well here JAB seems to be applauding his anti-woke sentiments…

Uh yep. Women do it all the time.

Never see a woman leave her kids unattended in the car while she runs into the 7-11 for a pack of smokes, or the grocery store, or the gym, or the bar…. Do you need links?

Don’t twist my words. I said women often have to work with the children in tow. And they manage it better than this guy.

Ah, okay. I thought you were implying women are just naturally better caregivers, a process that requires patience and forethought which are generally lacking in both sexes equally.

My dad always had more forethought than my mom. He was way better at managing money. My mom’s idea of managing money was a magic trick–make it disappear.

The Dems embrace of the scumbag is one of the reasons my wife and I quit the Party a decade ago.

Folks who like him should know that the underage woman he was convicted of statutory raping and who he later married is divorcing him because he subsequently fathered twins with another woman.

    Picking a political fight, Sheriff?

I doubt the sheriff can ban him. My money would be on the elected office in a court ruling.

But he can ban the kids.

    1. Sheriff is an elected official.

That’s not to say the sheriff can ban a fellow elected official, though.

Maybe he should put in a bill to allow children unsupervised if parents are working and need to visit a jail as part of their job. Poor Joe. For all of his ails, he really works for us in Petersburg, so did Airde.

You might benefit from looking a little closer at the scumbag. A little surprising you don’t aspire to having a decent human being as your representative in the GA.

Among many other things he employed convicted sex offenders to supervise a program for people with severe intellectual disabilities. The state police came and hauled one of the sex offenders out of the facility.

It would be hard to believe that Morrissey could get even worse publicity than he has in the past, but he certainly seems to be trying to do so.

What I can’t figure out is why did he have to be at the jail. He can’t represent the guy in jail. Why does he have to introduce his constituent to the lawyer? Is he getting a commission (kickback) for finding the guy a lawyer or finding the lawyer a client?

Sometimes Dick, the one thing a guy in jail needs is one friend who suddenly doesn’t know him anymore.

It is not “publicity”, it is, and has been, honest reporting of his repeated despicable and criminal behavior.

Surely the Sheriff is willing to release the surveillance video to prove his allegations of egregious behavior by the little rapscallions.

  10. Wow. Is that all it takes to get banned from jail?

    1. Lefty665 Avatar

Morrissey probably wishes he’d figured that out decades ago.
