So many good memes this week! And the runner up is…
-
It’s apolitical, but this was my favorite:
-
And in the latest frightening global cooling news, S.E. Australia has experienced record cold May and June temperatures in 2023…
-
And the runner up to the runner up is…

Yeah, it’s funny… until you think.
A paper straw in cellophane is far more sanitary than a plastic straw in a paper wrapper. Paper wrappers are permeable. Think Tylenol and cyanide at worst (this is America), and accidental contamination at best.
-
I’d think that any attempt to tamper with paper-wrapped straws would leave rather noticeable stains on the wrapper.
-
Would it? I think the Tylenol people figured people would notice tampering evidence too. They didn’t.
You might notice that the paper wrapper had gotten wet at some point, but until just now, would you have given it a second thought?
Until I was contemplating the paper straw in a plastic wrapper, until I saw James making fun of it, I’d have never even thought of contamination.
I know this because wait staff have handed me straws that the paper wrapper was wet. Their drink tray was wet.
-
If I had noticed that the paper had gotten wet, I would have rejected that straw for one where the paper had not gotten wet. But I tend to notice details like that, probably more than the average person.

There is an easy solution to the whole paper straw/plastic straw, paper wrapper/ plastic wrapper dilemma.
Don’t us straws.
-
Beer bongs are still okay tho?
-
Absolutely. Just run a lime wedge around the end to sanitize it between users.

If it bothers you so much…DON’T LOOK. How hard is that?

It was posted for public comment. I neither sought it out nor decided it was worthy of RE-POSTING. False equivalence.

Once we get shed of woke racism the next step is neocon warmongering. MSM are mostly part of the problem, not the solution.

I can remember when Doonesbury was actually clever and funny…
-
maybe you had a better sense of humor then…
-
Or maybe it’s better now:)

No, I have a compilation of the early cartoons, and they were most definitely more clever and more funny than what Mr. Trudeau is offering today. I have long thought that he should have retired about 20 years go. I know I would have if I were in his place.

Gary Larson did it right. He quit while we were still clapping.

Personal mentions removed…
This meme is creul and makes fun of the afflicted and those with severe defects, physical or mental. It’s really not funny and is really kind of stupid. Their agony, often resulting in suicide at early age, is as real to them as any that might have struck any of us.
We are made in the likeness of god, we are not made like gods. We are defective little balls of clay, and gender assignment is as subject to defect as any other human trait.
Some are lucky and their defects only shows when they laugh.
-
We should be treating, and dealing sympathetically with, people with gender dysphoria, not extolling them and embracing gender dysphoria as a virtue.
It is the demands to embrace physically impossible things like men can become pregnant, not the affliction of gender dysphoria itself, that are appropriate for ridicule. The above meme went appropriately after the foolishness, not the underlying malady.
The first step in becoming rehab ready is acknowledging that there is something wrong, aka a disability. Denial, as we see so much of today, impedes treatment.
As an example of how bizarre things have become, a friend who is a psychiatric social worker currently is required to ask clearly male, and mostly minority, drug users if they used drugs while they were pregnant. They look at her like she is nuts and laugh at her. White people, as in the meme, go figure.
-
What’s cruel is pretending that changing gender is a proven cure, when for many it may prove to be just the opposite.
It’s also cruel to pretend that changing sex can be accomplished without severe consequences.
Doctors aren’t God, even if they think they are.
