      GenX knew it was screwed.

First by the generation that couldn’t program a VCR, then by the generation that can’t go offline

Looks like GenX might have been right about the UFO / Social Security thing:

I saw them open for Metallica in Charlottesville a number of years ago. John Campbell is an amazing bass guitar player.

And isn’t Gwar also from Richmond?

GWAR should get honorable mention. Beavis and Butthead would approve.

        Nope. That’s misinformation.

Social Security is PRIMARILY FUNDED from FICA taxes – it’s a pay-as-you-go system. The Trust Fund is where FICA taxes are put when collected and where benefits are withdrawn when distributed.

The excess built up over the years when the percent of FICA was increased under Reagan in anticipating of coming generations like boomer.

That fund will now start reducing gradually since changes have not been made yet but even when that fund would totally run out – the vast, vast majority of money for Social Security will STILL be coming in from ongoing collections of FICA taxes.

But if nothing is done, then payouts will reduce to about 76% .

The primary funding mechanism for SS is the FICA Tax which flows through the trust fund to payouts.

SS will continue as long as the FICA tax is collected.

Loved the movie. Can watch it over and over. But, they’re deserters and war criminals, so maybe you should reconsider….

It was good, for it’s time, but awfully fakey at times. Movies like Platoon , “Band of Brothers” Full Metal Jacket and Apocalypse Now , I thought, had much more earnest portrayals.

The irony in the mockery of Jim’s selected meme is that the two successful “lawnmower starters” relied entirely on a 1940’s version of the hookah smoking caterpillar depicted in the top frame and his 3 psychedelic war machines, together with a little help from a bookie who, unlike today’s Republican leadership, truly understood the “art of the deal”.

hmmph… I thought they did not on purpose.

The killing scenes in Band of Brothers were gruesome.
