Inflation calculator from BLS. Larry would tell me I MUST believe a government website! $100 in goods in Jan 2020 now $121.07. Not even the dumbest Democrat out there is unaware…I take it you don’t do the shopping?

I do all the shopping. I just don’t look at the price; I know the value instead. There’s a maxim in there somewhere about the gorge between us.

In 1920, you could write the entirety of Federal Regulations on an index card.

5% a year? Not perfect but hardly calamitous. Don’t you remember the Reagan years? January 1980 to March 1984 saw $100 go to $131.

There are dozens of “free market”, unregulated economies. None of these guys, especially our resident P.E. would want to live, or could survive, in any of them.

Yeah, I know. And the BAR is supposed to weed out the Eastmans and Powells.

Of course, the CPI of today’s isn’t the CPI of 1920. But an engineer might not know that.

“ It’s surprising what certain items at the grocery store would have set you back in 1920. For instance, a dozen eggs cost 47 cents ($7.09 today), one pound of round steak cost 40 cents ($6.04 today), and three pounds of macaroni cost 25 cents ($3.77 today).”

His inability to do math should concern that you he “taught” that subject to anyone. No wonder VA doesn’t rank well.

The highest inflation rate since CPI was introduced was in 1917 20.49% and prior to that is was 29.78% in 1778.

All the other ankle bitters don’t understand how inflation works either. I guess the word cumulative doesn’t mean much to them. Then again, I wouldn’t trust much a geologist says, don’t have to have any real intelligence for that line of work.

So Carol? Random insults are kosher?

Until I login, I get to read all of the inane posts, then just push a button and they all go away.
