Did you ever make it to Cape Lookout?

        Way too many people…

Just got back from Alaska. My wife and I became members of the 30% Club. Only 30% of the visitors coming to see Denali actually see it. We did. Hiked on a glacier for an hour. Didn’t fall.

More importantly, you found one on which to hike.

Lots of them. Most are too dangerous to hike.

          Because they’re melting away.

No, the dangerous parts, except for the moraine, are not near the sections that are melting. They are higher towards the source, as per the guides and the NPS. Moraines, on the other hand, are extremely dangerous because of the gravel cover hiding caves, etc.

    2. How can you go to Denali and not see the mountain? Fog?

      1. Maybe some of them see Mount McKinley instead…

Denali is so high (> 20,000 feet) that is makes its own weather, clouds, fog, rain and snow. And the Mountain is usually shrouded in its weather, such that only 30 % of visitors seeking to view the Mountain succeed. And after arriving in Talkeetna (about 150 miles south), the skies cleared, and we saw the highest mountain in North America. The next day, the skies hid the Mountain.

Spent a week fishing in Alaska during July. I’ll be eating sockeye and king salmon until the end of time.

  3. Your “supporting cast” did an excellent job in your absence. Not that I expected anything less.

Welcome back, Jim. Hopefully you missed Biden’s confused and rambling speech where he mandated vaccinations for a number of groups of people. He managed to effectively read statistics from the teleprompter claiming how effective the vaccine is for preventing COVID-19 and for minimizing severe health consequences of the virus. He then slipped hard into retirement home mode and claimed the unvaccinated were threats to the vaccinated at work. Wait! If the vaccines are so effective then why do unvaccinated workers pose a threat to vaccinated workers? As he got more and more angry you could almost see his eyes get closer together.

“Oh but the mutations”, the liberals will cry. I guess the virus doesn’t mutate in people who work for companies with fewer than 100 people. Or overseas. Or among the illegal migrants crossing the border in waves.

Meanwhile, Biden’s booster shot program is supposed to start in one week (Sept 20). However, the FDA is battling the CDC so we’ll see if Biden can make good on that drunken boast.

Finally, from the brainwashed left department, a new poll shows that Democrats consider Donald Trump supporters and unvaccinated people to be the two biggest threats to America. Republicans and Independents see China, Russia and advocated fo defunding the police as the biggest threats.
