From the 2013 Annual Report on Domestic and Sexual Violence in Virginia:

“In 2012, at least 117 men, women, and children lost their lives to domestic violence, representing a 12.7% increase in family and intimate partner homicides from 2011 to 2012. Also in 2012, there were more than 67,000 calls to domestic and sexual violence hotlines across the state. 1. here’s the question that Conservative hate to hear:

Is this a government problem or is it a free market problem?

I think all conservatives would agree that the social safety net is a government function. It’s hard to imagine how the free market will serve those with no money, which is what I assume is the case for those seeking shelter but being turned away.

The question conservatives will ask is to what extent government should provide social safety net services.
