Dogs and Cats Living Together!

Speaking of “human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together… mass hysteria” (see previous post)… Now comes a story that Virginia Beach televangelist Pat Robertson does not believe in creationism. Here’s what he told a viewer on his “The 700 Club” show, according to CNN:

“You go back in time, you’ve got radiocarbon dating. You got all these things, and you’ve got the carcasses of dinosaurs frozen in time out in the Dakotas. … They’re out there. So, there was a time when these giant reptiles were on the Earth, and it was before the time of the Bible. So, don’t try and cover it up and make like everything was 6,000 years. That’s not the Bible.”

Well, wonders never cease!

Frightening to read in the story that more than 40 percent of Americans believe Man was Created less than 10,000 years ago. Thank you, Bishop Ussher.

Look, Robertson is a highly educated guy and a clever advocate for his cause, who recognizes that the Ussher timetable (based on counting the generations of “begats” in Genesis) is ridiculous. That doesn’t mean he accepts “Godless” evolution. You can believe the Earth is billions of years old and still believe in a Creator God. Frankly, the sequence of the creation of life in Genesis — with humankind coming at the end of the process that started with a barren world formed out of the void — is remarkably consistent with current cosmology and evolution.

The basic underlying dispute remains. Either you buy into the superstition or you don’t.

Either you buy into the superstition or you don’t.”

indeed… seems to work that way for a lot of things now days. FACTS become enemies of beliefs.
