“Blood on the Mountain”

Jeff Thomas, author of “Virginia Politics & Government in a New Century” and podcaster, interviews former Bacon’s Rebellion contributor Peter Galuszka about the “war on coal” and the Upper Big Branch mine disaster in West Virginia.

Peter also appears as a prominent “talking head” (his words, not mine) in a documentary, “Blood on the Mountain,” coming out later this month in DVD, Netflix and Amazon. Look for it.

Congrats to Peter. He has worked long and hard on this story !
I note that the Blankenship guy was convicted and and is in prison.

“A panel of appellate judges has affirmed a ruling that sent former Massey Energy CEO Don Blankenship to prison. The decision means he’ll serve out the remainder of his one-year prison term in a California penitentiary. ”

one year seems quite inadequate for the lives of the 29 men who died but it also represents one of the very few times that mine operators have been held personally criminally negligent and got more than corporate sanctions or fines.

I’d be curious to know if the research that Peter did found it’s way into the trial…
