as with any packaged raw meat, cooking disinfects, and this allows for storing at ~40 degrees for up to 10 days. OTOH, after merely opening the aseptic package, the raw product may be safely stored for 3 to 5 days at ~40 degrees.

I like the idea of one serving much better. Of course that makes the calorie salt and other disclosures a little less attractive. But hey, there's no free lunch.
