From Michael Paul Williams’ Friday column in the Times-Dispatch:

The former capital of the Confederacy is also the capital of the state where mixed marriages were sanctioned by the Supreme Court in the 1967 Loving v. Virginia decision. In a 2012 study by Pew Research Center, has the nation’s highest percentage (3.3%) of marriages between blacks and whites.

Remarkable.

The majority of mixed couples live in Woodbridge along the Rt. 1 corridor. I heard the Rt. 1 corridor in Prince William County has one of the highest concentrations of mixed couples in the world.

I always heard that Tidewater held that title. Each of the three big metros seem to have a high number of interracial couples. Tidewater certainly appears to have the most.
