Between the Alleghany Mountains and the Blue Ridge, Blacksburg is an upscale college town that is home to Virginia Tech. The area is known for education and lays claim to seven great public schools for the younger students.

As a former BusinessWeek staffer (15 years), all I can say is, consider the source. This is the same publication that had the “Death of Equities” cover in the early 1980s.
Eric Schmidt, former CEO of Google, grew up in Blacksburg. Rumor has it that he left for Princeton and never returned.
