Thousands from the UVa community gathered on the Lawn last night to hold a vigil for Davin Chandler, Lavel Davis Jr., and D’Sean Perry.

Many questions arise from the mass shooting at the University of Virginia two days ago. Why’d he do it? Were there warning signs? Could the murders have been prevented?

There will be a time and a place to answer those questions.

But not now.

Now is the time to mourn the loss of three fine young men. Now is the time for the UVa community to come together, honor the memories of the victims, support the bereaving families, and pray for the recovery of the two students who were hospitalized from the shooting.

After Sherlock and Kerry got their political spin in, BR says now is not the time to politicize and lay blame. Par for the course…

    1. I must take issue with part of your comment. Ms. Dougherty did not spin this tragedy in any way.

See my comment to her – she was very clever in her spin but it is clearly there.

        1. I disagree. There are unanswered questions which need to be investigated and answered at a later date.

Not surprised you disagree. Had she wanted to remain completely neutral, she should have remained silent on “questions”. She didn’t and the questions and how she asked them were spin. Even Sherlock retreated to “hey, I’m just asking questions here…” (I am paraphrasing here, btw)

This has happened how many times and after we do this:

” Why’d he do it? Were there warning signs? Could the murders have been prevented?

There will be a time and a place to answer those questions.

    But not now.”

yep. might as well tape it and have it read to replay soon again.

I’m listening to a “you will be connected with the first available operator” even as I sit here. Call time thus far 1:21:13.

Hey. His blog. SOP though for the topic of 2nd Amendment with Republicans. Not sure which came first, 3 dead at UVa or 4 dead at Iowa, but if we have to have a break in the killing before discussing, how long of a break is needed? More than a week is a guarantee of continuous mourning.

    1. Minor correction: 4 dead in Idaho, not Iowa.

And then there are the six dead in Chicago over the weekend…

And I still cannot see how restricting my ability to own and/or carry a gun will help reduce the violence. Of course, I’m not a Republican, so…

  4. Yes a time for mourning.

It is unfortunate that the President wasted not a moment to use this tragedy instead as an opportunity for another call to ban “assault weapons”.

It apparently does not matter to him that there was no “assault weapon” involved at UVa. What he relished was the chance to use the dead as a soapbox to advance his political agenda.

Now, now, now. You can’t expect the distinguished posters whom usually harp on that stuff to criticize the POTUS they voted for, even though he’s a few French fries short of a happy meal.
