the Promised Land. In

evil confronts us daily in lesser numbers. The answer is
Christian lovingkindness.
March
5: March
Madness. The

politics. Republicans are fast losing credibility as the
party of low taxes and small government.
February
20: The
Transportation Tax Panic.
The
transportation package backed by House and Senate
Republicans would raise taxes and create unaccountable
regional governments -- just to help the GOP survive the
next election.
February
5: How
the GOP Lost its Majority.
Republicans
became the majority party in Virginia by hewing to their
small-government principles. They will revert to the
minority by abandoning those same principles.
January
22: A
Conservative of Conscience.
Jim
Gilmore can win the GOP nomination for president because
he embraces the conservative positions that appeal to
Republican voters.

8: Our
Humblest Apologies. While
we're begging forgiveness for slavery, genocide and
other assorted sins of our ancestors, there are a few
other offenses that Virginians should express contrition
for.

18: Writing
Rightly.
I
am driven to write -- partly as a form of self
expression, but mostly in defense of values
threatened by secular humanists and totalitarian
jihadists.
December
4: William
& Mary vs the Cross.
Multi-cultural
expression is great for everyone -- except Christians.
The removal of the cross from William & Mary's Wrenn
Chapel is just one more reminder of academe's hostility
to Christianity.
November
20: Election
Speed Bump.
The
2006 elections were bad news for Republicans but not
necessarily for Conservatives.

Regional Goverment!
If
you like the idea of taxation without

cronies without public oversight... you'll love
the idea of regional government.

11: Ten
Reasons to Vote for Allen.
From
taxes and immigration to judges and World War IV, Sen.
George Allen stands on the right side of the issues.
August
28: The
Real Race Problem.
Which
is worse: calling someone "macaca" or painting
whites as racists in order to perpetuate the cult of
victimhood and keep minorities on the liberal
plantation?
August
7: Putting
Taxes to Work.
Let's
use the state budget surplus to set up Commonwealth
Trust accounts, funds every citizen can use to offset a
portion of their health care expenses.
July
24: Never-Ending
Racial Wrongs.
The
choice is simple: Does Virginia want to treat all
citizens equally or does it want to treat Virginia
Indians as a special classes of citizens to assuage
white guilt?
July
10: Marriage
A,B,Cs.
There
are good reasons for Virginia to define marriage
as between a man and a woman. It is the best
institution yet devised for raising healthy,
productive citizens.
June
26: Why
Not Webb?
Senatorial
candidate Jim Webb exerts a strong, gut appeal for many
Republican constituencies. He could give Sen. George
Allen a good run for his money.
June
12: "June

June is a time to celebrate life, youth and
rites of passage -- and a time to count our
blessings as free men.
May
30: Can
You Say "President" Allen?
After
voting against the illegal-alien "Shamnesty"
bill, George Allen is all but guaranteed the GOP
presidential nomination. He stands with 60 percent of
the electorate on all the big issues.
May
15: Stuck
on Stupid.
The
Senate Republicans who worked out a proposed regional
transportation authority are the same geniuses who
thought up the Transportation Tax Scam that voters
rejected in 2002.
May
1: Economic
Law and Order.
One
law the politicians can't repeal is the law of supply
and demand. If lawmakers want lower gasoline prices,
they must increase supply or moderate demand. Nothing
else works.
April
17: Time
to Choose: Are
You a Peasant or a Patriot? The royals
running Virginia's House of Lords, er, Senate,
think the populace is too supine to protest
another tax increase.
April
3: Funny
Money. It's
all play money to the economic geniuses in the
state Senate. The senators' transportation-
financing plan doesn't make a lick of economic
sense.
March
20: The
Truth Shall Set You Free. Ever
wonder why life seems so hard? The problem isn't
outsourcing, or even automation. It's government
taking an ever-bigger share of Americans'
paychecks.
February
27: Stop
Me Before I Tax Again. Not
content with imposing a record tax increase in
2004, Virginia's Imperial Senate proposes outdoing
its meager effort with another, even bigger round.

Reasons Not to Raise Taxes. Apparently,
some GOP legislators need to have it explained why
they shouldn't raise taxes. Here's a list of
reasons to start with.
January
16: Drunk
on Spending. Still
don't believe there's room to cut the state budget?
Start with $68,000 on alcoholic beverages in the
Department of Education. And that's just the tip of the
ice cube.
January
3: Another
Good Year for Virginia.
The
tax hikers and the secular humanists are
overreaching. They can't get away with much more
without pushing a majority of Virginians into
saying, "Enough is enough!"

12: Happy
Winter Solstice to You.
It's
not enough to respect minority religions. It's not
enough to practice separation of church and state.
Now some York County educators are driving
Christmas out of the schools.

A Conservative Hero.
Moderates

November
14: It

Tim
Kaine may be liberal, but he's also pragmatic. The
Commonwealth will survive the next four years
while Republicans figure out what they really
stand for.
October

Call to Vote.
There
are good reasons to vote the Republican ticket
Nov. 8. Get out there and do it!
October
17: Muddy
Water, Clear Politics.
Some
candidates do everything they can to obscure the facts.
There's a good reason for that: The facts don't support
their positions.
September
19: Questions
for a Faux Independent. Randy
Gilliland, a 91st House district candidate, is a
Democrat in an Independent's clothing. Here are 10
questions he should answer.
September
5: Sand
in the Gear.
The
moneyed interests and political establishment
have failed for years to get rid of true-blue
conservative Tom Gear, R-Hampton. In 2005, they're
giving it one more shot.
August
8: Principles
for Tax Reform.
The
abomination labeled "tax reform" in 2004 was
anything but. The basic principles underlying Virginia's
tax code should include fairness, appropriateness and
minimalism.
July11:
Virginia's
Finitudes. Let's
explore a new principle of state/local taxation:
People should pay based upon how hard they use and
abuse Virginia's finite resources of land, water
and air.
June
20: A
Pleasing Primary. The
pundits have written off the June '05 primary as a
loss for the low-tax movement. Let them believe
what they want. The movement is gaining
momentum.
June
6: It's
All About Taxes. It
matters who wins the Republican primary. Get out
and vote!
May
23: The
Tax Scam. Only
six long-shot challengers are contesting the 16
House Republicans who voted last year for tax
increases. It looks like the tax grifters will get
away with a $1.5 billion swindle.
May
9: Whining
While Black. Now
that Confederate history month is over, maybe the
racial grievance mongers will let up a while--and
let black people turn their attention back to
earning a piece of the American pie.
April
25: An
Old Growth Strategy. Just
imagine: Bands of old growth forest criss-crossing
Virginia, accessible to hikers, bikers and
horseback riders. Truly a project for the
ages.
April
11: The
Shade of Terri Schiavo. Important
issues have surfaced in the Kaine-Kilgore
race, but as the judicial murder of Terri
Schiavo drives home, none are as vital as
halting the tyranny of unelected judges.
March
14: Drunk
on Power. Between
tax increases and economic growth, state
government revenues are growing 13 percent this
year. But to some in the General Assembly, that's
still not enough.
February
28: Republicans
Asunder. If
the Virginia GOP stands for everything from higher
taxes to tax cuts, does it really stand for
anything? Does anything unite the party
beyond a hunger for power?
February
14: Adult
Supervision Advised. The
Higher Ed lobby defines the "charter"
university issue as all about money. But
Virginia citizens must guard against educrats
imposing an unwelcome brand of political correctness.
