I support the idea of Virginia enatcting both a soverignty resolution and a call for a convention to pass a bill of federalism, although I would make some changes to Barnett's version. The problem is overcoming the big govenment mantra that so many people have come to accept as normal and right. They don't understand how far we have come away from what our founding fathers intended. And the founding fathers were not perfect. How many false assurances were given in the ratification debates? Many respected people of the time insisted that the federal government that was being formed was limited and would not be able to exceed the powers that were enumerated in the constitution. How wrong they were! Looking ahead, how do you get people to accept a roll back of the Federal Government's power?
